Thread: Ntsc

    Ntsc

    Hi,

The spec implies that it is NTSC compatible 720x480 30fps. But when I input an NTSC signal it won't lock properly. The display shows NTSC but it seems to try to run at 50fps. Any ideas?

    Hi Winston

As far as I know it should do this.
We have a few people on holiday just now but I can have it checked towards the end of the week.

    Hi Winston

What's the source & details you are using for the input to the unit?

    I have tried several sources,
A satellite receiver with its output configured to NTSC,
    A US DVD,
A PAL to NTSC standards converter.

All these are true NTSC with 60Hz field rate and 3.58MHz subcarrier, not non standard like NTSC 4.43 or PAL 60.
The front panel display shows Ntsc60 50Hz which I find strange. It is as if it is trying to output a 60Hz input as 50Hz.

I have also tried these on another DVB-T modulator the Ikusi MAC 401 and it works fine.

Any further information or tests done yet?

    Hi Winston

Yes, we have confirmed that this is a bug.

The Video A/D input is detecting the input correctly as 60Hz but it is not then being switched from 50 to 60Hz so the video will not lock correctly.

This will be corrected in the next firmware release for the unit.

Thanks again for your input ^ and our apologies that this one slipped through testing.

Hi. It has been a year now. Has there been a new firmware release yet?

    Hi Winston

Apologies but there hasn't been a new firmware release.
I'm sorry to say that it looks increasingly likely that there will be no further releases for this model.
